The Meijers Committee is an independent group of experts that researches and advises on European criminal, migration, refugee, privacy, non-discrimination and constitutional law.

The Committee promotes transparent and democratic decision-making, respect for human rights and access to a judge in the European cooperation in the field of justice, migration and security.

The Meijers Committee does this by providing politicians, policy makers, and the broader public with a scholarly assessment of the impact on human rights and democracy of new European legislative proposals in the Area of Freedom, Security and Justice.

The Committee is composed of law professors and researchers, judges and attorneys with expertise in different European legal topics. The Committee is financially supported by a number of civil society organizations.

Support for Meijers Committee

The current situation in Europe calls for an active Meijers Committee. Therefore, the Committee wants to focus on protecting the rule of law and fundamental human rights within the EU through engaging even more in current legal issue. However, this means that more support is needed for the Meijers Committee - and therefore more financial resources. If you want to support our work, you can read here what the possibilities for donations are.
